Port Orange Shooting, PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A tragic shooting at a Walgreens in Port Orange left three people injured and the suspected gunman dead in what authorities are describing as an attempted triple homicide-suicide.
The shooting took place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Walgreens located at the intersection of Taylor Road and Williamson Boulevard, near the Pavilion at Port Orange shopping center. Port Orange police responded to reports of gunfire just after 10:00 a.m., arriving to find a chaotic scene with the entire parking lot taped off as a crime scene.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect entered the store and opened fire, shooting a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician, and a third individual. The suspect then turned the weapon on himself and died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Emergency responders rushed the three victims to nearby hospitals. Their current conditions have not yet been disclosed by authorities. The names of the victims and the suspect have not been released, pending notification of families.
Investigators have not yet determined a motive, but police confirmed the shooting appears to have been targeted. Witnesses in the area described hearing multiple shots and seeing people fleeing the store in panic.
“There were at least 10 police vehicles here and the entire parking lot was blocked off with crime scene tape,” said one eyewitness who was nearby during the incident.
The Port Orange Police Department is continuing its investigation and is urging anyone with information or video footage from the area to come forward.
